What to Use for Your Laundry Load

Washing laundry is a significant part of everyone’s at-home cleaning routine – to keep clothes clean and fresh. But there’s a lot to think about. Including whether bleach is suitable to use on your clothes, what’s the most suitable product to use on your colored clothes and whites, and what to do when it comes to delicate laundry. So, let’s look at the various Clorox® products that you can choose from and what is best for your laundry load.


Using Bleach for Your Clothes

Bleach is often used with laundry to thoroughly wash and clean clothes as it serves multiple purposes. It kills 99.9% of Viruses and Bacteria your clothes may have picked from the outdoors, removes stains and whitens clothes. Clorox® offers two bleach products that you can choose from Clorox® Bleach and Clorox® Scented Bleach. Nothing kills germs better than Clorox® Bleach.

Before using Clorox® Bleach and Clorox® Scented Bleach, be sure to check the fabric label for any important laundry-related warnings and read the label on the product. Follow the steps below when using your chosen product.

  1. Add detergent.
  2. Fill Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach to max line in dispenser or add 1 cup (250 ml) for top loading machines or 1/2 cup (125 ml) for front loading machines to wash water.
  3. Add white clothes and start wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for 10 minutes.

Both product are also suitable to use on sensitive, washable fabrics such as silk, wool, and mohair, meaning they can both be used for delicate laundry as well. They are both effective on dried in stains. Follow the steps below to wash your clothes.

Directions for use of both the Clorox® Clothes Stain Remover Color Booster and Clorox® Clothes Stain Remover Supreme Whitener*

Pre-Wash:

  1. Apply Clorox® Clothes directly to stain.
  2. Rub the fabric gently and let stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Wash normally. Do not allow product to dry on fabric.

In Wash:

  1. Add 100 ml (2 caps) of Clorox® Clothes with your favorite detergent.
  2. Start your normal wash cycle.

Soaking:

  1. Add 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of Clorox® Clothes to each 1 L of water with your favorite detergent.
  2. Soak for 5 minutes.
  3. Wash as usual. For tough stains soak for 1 hour.

For clothes with stronger stains, you can opt for Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover for Colors or Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover for Whites – both of which are the best stain remover powder products that Clorox® has to offer. These two powerful products work great on tough stains such as tea, grease, chocolate, oil, and ink, while preventing the colors from fading for colored clothes and keeps white items of clothing, bright. Follow the steps below when using either product. Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover for Colors or Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover for Whites.

Directions for use of both the Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover for Colors or Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover for Whites.

Pre-Wash for Tough Stains:

  1. Dissolve 1/4 scoop (7.5 g) of Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover with water until a paste is formed.
  2. Wet the stain and apply the paste.
  3. Let it act for 5 minutes.
  4. Continue with your normal wash cycle.

In Wash:

  1. Add 1 scoop (30 g) of Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover with your favorite detergent.
  2. Start your normal wash cycle.

Soaking:

  1. Dissolve 1 scoop (30 g) of Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover in 4 L of water with your favorite detergent.
  2. Add clothes and soak for 1 hour.
  3. Rinse with water.


Reading the Precautionary Statement

When using any Clorox® product, be sure to read the precautionary statement. Certain products will have specific instructions for colorfastness tests that are correlated to the level of active ingredients.

For example:

Colorfastness test: Dissolve 1 scoop of Clorox® Clothes Ultra Stain Remover in a cup with warm water and soak for 20 minutes in a hidden area or garment. Rinse, let it dry and compare this area of the garment with others, if the color doesn’t change, use the product.

It’s also important to check the precautionary statement to see whether any fabrics should be avoided when using different products.
